FTC for work sites on public roads

Work sites on public roads (either under construction or undergoing maintenance) allow vehicle operators to claim FTCs at the off-road rate when operating on site, if the portion of road on which the site sits is closed to the public (e.g. a lane closed for resurfacing). Calculating the amount of actiivty and fuel use on these sites is particularly tricky because you can't rely on road mapping to determine the location of the 'off public road' activity (since the sites are on public roads!).

Nuonic has developed specialised algorithms which, when combined with additional customer and government data, can be used to identify the locations automatically and segregate the qualifying activity. This is a specialised process that requires greater customer involvement than the standard 'on and off road' analysis that most fleets use. However, the returns for business that operate on these sites (such as traffic management, road construction and materials delivery businesses) can be significant, often resulting in double the amount of eligible off-public road activity being identified.
